True butit's not Poland's fault (except that we shouldn't have trusted our western allies) that we've been moved west, not to mention the fact that we've lost half of our territory in the east.

Re: True butThe funny thing with Poles is how they are susceptibles...
As far as I know SP is not for politics, you made your own interpretation of this milestone found by random on a trail with a German place name. I just found it interesting.
You may like it or not, the region was in Germany, regardless of all dissertations we can make about the countless war victims and so on (certainly mountain lovers of both sides amongst them).
As for the milestone itself, I like the way letters are calligraphied in "Jugend Art", as they called it. I was wondering about what "Bertlings" could be... a place, a surname...

Re: True butI wasn't saying I didn't like the photo - in fact it's only I who's bothered to cast a vote on it. I just don't quite like the caption. I'm afraid if a foreign student reads it, they may think what some people think on hearing the phrase "Polish death camps". That's why I think it was worth writing my comment. Yep, I admit Polish people, including myself, can be allergic - the 2nd world war and its results cost us too much.

Re: True butWhat should the caption be ? "Once it was not Poland but it's not their fault ?". Come on...
Willing to make to much "politically correct" becomes sometimes ridiculous. Let's tell things as they are (were).

Re: True butFirst and foremost, the caption should not be repeated. Second, "German sign from before WWII" would be just right at the top, and more explanation, such as whereabouts the thing stands plus your feelings about it (" I like the way letters are calligraphied in "Jugend Art", as they called it. I was wondering about what "Bertlings" could be... a place, a surname...") would be both less controversial and much more informative.
