Lowe original Expedition Pack
Ok, don't laugh (too much). I feel the Lowe Expedition pack should be included in gear reviews just for the historical information.

This may be the least technical pack being reviewed in this gear section; that said this is still my favorite all around backpack since 1978. I have used this pack for climbing day trips (with 15 lb loads) up to 9 day climbing trips (with 100+ lb loads) and I have been quite satisfied with it's performance for both. No pack carries itself but this pack adjusts well to take a lot of the misery out (of carrying heavy loads).

There are very few features to write about on this pack; it has one main compartment, a large top pocket, padded adjustable straps and suspension system (which work quite well) and enough straps to tie and compress any reasonable load.

If quality is defined by length of use then this pack surely must deserve a 5 Star rating!
