My Review:

I own both the Marmot Alpinist Bivy and the Marmot Mica Jacket. Both products have the MemBrain fabric with is lightweight and extremely water proof. The thing I like most in addition to the extreme protection from the elements is that these products pack down to nothing so they are easy to carry in a day pack. In fact they are so light (14 oz. for the Bivy and 7 oz. for the Mica jacket) they are hardly noticed there until they are needed.

The bright orange color also would be helpful if an emergent situation should arise where it is iportant to get noticed. On the other hand if you are trying to blend in this is not the product for you.

All of the seams are taped and with proper care the Alpinist Bivy should last a long time.
