El Chalten, Patagonia?

by northcave » Tue Oct 11, 2016 8:57 pm

I'm passing through El Chalten in November and some of the peaks seem fairly accessible and easy enough without me having to haul my full mountaineering kit out there. In particular, Cerro Solo, Cerro Eléctrico and Mojon Rojo. Has anyone done any of these and can advise?

Thanks!

I have climbed Cerro Solo with 4 friends and 2 local mountain guides 4 years ago. Amazing !!!! We climbed it in 2 days. It was my best memory in Patagonia. Let me know if you need the contact details of the guides I used. I highly recommend them, they were super pro ! Cheers

Hi there.

Given that I have mountaineering experience do you think Solo is doable without a guide? How technical was the route and the route finding?

I assume there is a glacier crossing but were the crevasses significantly and hidden or was the need the role up mostly a precaution?
