Pyrenees Climbing - CHAPTER 1

by Swifty » Sat Jun 03, 2006 4:39 pm

I'm looking for some beta on suggested classic trad routes in the PYRENEES that are in the 5.6 to 5.7 range...

now where should we start? :D

I take it you mean about your thread?

I´m glad that helped...it´s a shame that it´s not more up to date. Well at least the "new" routes in it will have become "traditional" ones now!

"I checked the EUROPEAN section of this website and did not find anything too useful!!!" You have sought well in SP?

you had this beautifull route of 5.6 in Pyrenees in SP to climb Aneto:
http://www.summitpost.org/route/177414/salenques-tempestades-ridge.html

Another great route of 5.6 in the same area is the ridge of Llosás (Aiguilles Franqueville, Tchihatcheff and Argarot, as well to Aneto). No page in SP

route 5.7 in SP in Balaitous:
http://www.summitpost.org/route/155678/diablo-and-costerillou-ridges.html (the description is very poor)

route 5.7-5.8 in Monte Perdido:
http://www.summitpost.org/route/165504/espolon-esparrets-via-ravier.html

a lot of rock climbs in the north face of Vignemale:
http://www.summitpost.org/mountain/rock/151265/vignemale-massif.html

I wish you like it.

Swifty, I was in the Pyrenees so I couldn't answer you. We were ascending Bisaurín, wich is a walk-up ascent. I'll try to find more information aside that one by Rafa, who is an expert in the Pyrenees. You could also ask eza, TodoVertical and nikolai79 (Picos de Europa)

DEAR CHARLES – thank you for point me to the Summit Post link. The Summit Post search engine is not that powerful and you have saved me some time. Gracias.

DEAR RAFA – your beta is immensely helpful. Thanks a bunch!!! Is there any chance we can hook up with you while we are in Spain August 8th to September 5th??? We would love to buy you a drink…take you out for dinner…or perhaps do a climb…

DEAR DIEGO – your last posting did not come through…please resend.

~Swifty

PS We climbed in Patagonia, Chile and south of Aconcagua in January, so if anyone needs some beta on those areas…just let me know and I’ll be glad to help…
