From what I hear he also still has a hard-on in general, from the way he hits on the ladies.

Marcel Remy redpointed 6b in Kalymnos, not bad for a 85 year old!

Not sure what your point is but it's an awfully small world and I would hope that you have some evidence to back up your insinuation that Beckey is a dirty old man who likes to "hit on the ladies" and runs around with a permanent hard on. According to what you "hear" of course.

I've met Beckey and I know nothing of his sexual proclivities but he did not strike me in anyway as a dirty old man. Maybe you are just a jealous, douche bag who likes to slander people publicly in online forums. Maybe you think it's wrong for a senior to still have a sex drive? Don't know what your problem is but I know a few people here in the NW that would knock your fucking teeth out for doing this.

Geez, I thought EVERYONE knew that Fred likes the ladies.

There was a picture of Fred Becky on approach to Temple Crag posted here about four years ago. I did a search but the only returns were Becky references later than 2006. I recall the picture saying Fred was 83 then which would make him 87 now. I read an article in a climbing magazine a year after that and Fred was still climbing. The picture was cool, showing Fred toting a nicely appointed rack and a big camera strapped around his neck. Maybe the SPer that posted it still has the image or knows where to find it here.

Poor choice of words on my part-didn't mean to ignite anything...

Meanwhile, back on topic...Paul Petzoldt was getting into the mountains well into his 8th decade, was he not???

Harvey Carter was climbing at least to 5.11 2 years ago, which would make him 77.

I climb with a guy from Britian and he is 71 - still doing nice rock routes and leading hard ice in Canmore. I did the Wapta Traverse with a guy who was 71 and he kicked all our butts.
Also in France last year the guys in the 80's were easily doing 5.8+ on various rock routes, I even got some pointers from them. I had heard about another guy who was 83 and had just died in an avalanche doing an extremely hard route on one of the mountains of Cham.
