I'm going to try to get up Half Dome on my 62nd birthday next week!! While we're out there I also plan to hike to Upper Yosemite Falls from C4 as well as do a couple of easier hikes with my wife.

I've been keeping up with park conditions on the YNP website but I was wondering if anyone that has been up there recently can tell me what snow conditions to expect from their experience.Thanks very much.

BTW, one great thing about turning 62 is that I get to buy my lifetime national parks pass!

If you were planning on the Cable Route to the top of Half Dome, the cables will not be up for a little while yet (right before MD weekend, but I'm sure you know that) :

It was a very heavy snow year, and even down low (-ish) there's still quite a bit of snow, including on top of Half Dome as of this w/e, though it will be melting fast now. The Valley floor is almost entirely clear of snow, and up higher the temps are well above 70F+. So - checkback on trail conditions right before you leave, I'd say. The good news is that the waterfalls are amazing

It's quite nice up there right now. You'll find snow at the top of the Yosemite Falls trail; Half Dome would be a bit of an adventure.

Thanks for the info. I know the cables are down but I'll give it a go unless the rock is slick. My backup hike is the Upper Falls.
