Trailheads Eastern Sierra (Cottonwood Lakes)

Hi,

I read rumors that Whitney Portal road is probably still usable, but I was wondering if anybody has any information about Cottonwood Lakes?

That road has an actual gate a few miles up from Tuttle Creek.
