I can't post a new topic in Gear...clicking "New Topic" takes me to my profile page. Making a New topic in all other forums works fine.

Try it now. I reset your permissions for Gear. In theory, you should be good to go.

Thank you, that seemed to work. Interesting that that forum was the only one affected.

Matt,

I'm not sure if you read the Elf Inbox or not, but here part of one of the latest messages:

There is a glitch in the website, for the past 3/4? month I have been getting email notifications everytime what seems to be ANY forum is updated and I can't make it stop. I click on the hyperlink and it just takes me to my profile page.

Thankyou,

mountainanchor

unwanted updates

Postby Deleted User » Wed Mar 20, 2013 12:58 am

I'm getting unwanted and unrequested updates to forums. All the updates I am getting are addressed to Montana Matt.

I have forum options set as follows: 'User Control Panel' 'Board Preferences' and 'Edit Posting Defaults' it is set to 'no' on 'Notify me upon replies by default'

I tried various times on the various links that are embedded within the emails; it just brings me to the login page, after I login then it only takes me to my profile page. If I'm already logged in then it just takes me to my profile page. The last message was regarding the "ivory tower", when I click on that I don't even have permission to view the forum.

cheers,

Olin

I sent you a pm giving you details about how to potentially fix this and/or questions to give us clues on addressing this issue. Perhaps your subscribed to threads as well?

The banner ad for GRID2 is causing problems with my iPAD. The ad covers the bottom of the screen. When you click to close it, it kicks you out of the message forum! This happens every time consistently...

Now I can't log in at all from my iPAD. Tried clearing the cookies. Tried changing my password (from a PC). I logged in and out successfully from my PC but I still can't sign in from my iPAD. It says "invalid user name or password". Any suggestions?

No, that's not it. Does the system lock out IP addresses if too many login attempts fail?

I don't own a Ipad, but is there another browser you can test besides Safari? I've noticed a relationship between problems and people who use Safari. In other words, Safari doesn't work as well with SP's login from what I've gathered.

On your PC could you install the browser Safari and see if you have this issue still? This would help us figure out if it's a browser issue or a operating system issue. (hate to make you do this, but it would help us out with figuring out this mystery)

The SP login system uses cookies. If you don't have cookies enabled or if there is some sort of issue with cookies being set in the browser (some virus protection software prevents cookies from being set), that's the only way I know of that the login won't work.
