Carpathian Mountains

by Davidmanby » Mon Sep 09, 2013 5:50 pm

We are planning a visit to romania last week of may next year. We are all experienced fit mountain walkers and have 9 days in the country including transfers. We like the look of the Retezat mountains but are not sure if the weather would be suitable at that time and also if there is a high risk of avalanche. If the Retezat is unsuitable maybe the Piatra Craiului and then on to the start of the Faragas for a few days might be an option. All options and suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

It's hard to predict what the weather will be like or how much snow there will be in May.

I thought that might be the case and we will watch the weather right up to the day we leave. What I didn't want to hear was that it was way to early for a trip of that kind. We will hope and pray.
