Flowers of the Sierra Nevada

by Alpinist » Fri Mar 12, 2010 6:32 pm

Spring is just around the corner and flowers will soon begin to bloom in the Sierra. Please keep the Flowers of the Sierra Nevada album in mind while you are out exploring the Sierra.

The album already contains some magnificant photos but there are hundreds of flower species missing. I'm hoping the album will develop into a more comprehensive reference library for Sierra flowers. In the future, if you see a flower and are not sure what it is, you can either browse the photos in the album or do a keyword search on a specific species.

Thanks... Safe climbing!

I'll try to submit some over the next few days. That is if you don't mind an Idahoan submitting Sierra flowers.

I'll see if I can find some of those missing flowers and add them to the album.

It's not quite late Spring anymore but the flowers are peaking now. I was in Yosemite a week ago and photographed over 30 different species of flowers. It was the best I've ever seen.

Haven't done much wildflower work this summer compared to past years though was out a few times earlier this year during late spring. So just added this spreading phlox closeup taken along Hetchy Hetchy Road to your album:

Hi all: Just a reminder to upload any flower photos that you take to the Flowers of the Sierra Nevada album. I'm still trying to build the album into a more complete library of flower photos.

Thanks! Have a great Spring/Summer...!

Annual reminder: Please attach any photos of Sierra flowers to the Flowers of the Sierra Nevada album, especially if they are rare or different from the existing ones. I'm trying to build the album into a comprehensive photo library of flowers for the Sierra. Thanks! Have a great summer!
