Montane Minimus for Alps?

by climb321 » Fri Nov 28, 2014 12:08 pm

Is this jacket too lightweight as a waterproof layer for summer Alps trips? Thinking it will be used to throw on in afternoon storms when walking into huts etc.

Anyone help?

I have the Minimus Smock. It works well for high mountain environments. Mine has kept me dry in downpours in the Tetons and the Wind River Range.

For an alpine hard shell jacket, the primary concern is that it's light weight and compact, as it will spend most of the time in your pack. The Minimus is both light and small, but it is also waterproof.

It's exactly what you want as a waterproof layer for summer Alps trips.
