Been meaning to ask...

Where is "Cave of the Winds" in relation to
Pikes Peak?

I think I'm the only person on SP who hasn't
climbed Pikes Peak, or visited Cave of the
Winds. There must be something terribly wrong
with me. Thanks for posting!!!

Re: Been meaning to ask...

Larry,

The entrance to Cave of the Winds and the entrance to the Pikes Peak highway are not far at all from eachother on Ute Pass (Hwy 24).

However, if you're going to be a good boy and HIKE up Pikes instead of driving...

The Barr Trail trailhead is still close by. I suggest summitting Pikes as a weekend endeavor. Why rush such a lovely outing, condensed into a one-day death-fest? When I summitted Pikes, I hiked up to Barr Camp Friday night by headlamp and slept. The next morning I awoke and summitted, then hiked back to Barr Camp. After enjoying wine & appetizers, then a big dinner, I slept again at Barr Camp. Sunday morning I woke up and liesurely hiked out.

Ha, ha! Your sense of humor is killing me.
And, I love the beta! But for some reason, I
most throghouly enjoy the "wine & big dinner" part of your comment.

But, am I allowed to replace the wine with a
bottle of beer??? Is that allowable here on
SP?

Have a nice rest of the weekend, Sarah,
and THANKS for the information.
