Actually, this hawk was sitting on this post as we drove nearby on the Pony Express highway, a dirt road in the western Utah desert. I believe this is a Ferruginous (sp?) hawk. We went on to do another Utah desert peak, one called Round Top and its neighbor, Davis Peak next door. We got off the peaks just before the rain hit. That is Indian Pks in the background.
