Parked at the pass and hopped over unmarked wire gate. I followed the road around the east side which maintained altitude. I came to a road that headed up in a straight line and followed it to a one track trail on the ridge to the summit area. Beautiful views 360 degrees of South Park Peaks.
We hiked this from Red Hill Pass along US 285, which should be all legal as our map showed our route completely on BLM land. Photos and our route can be found at joeandfrede.com.
pretty thrashed after forging my way up ouray the day before. slept in buena vista and climbed turtle rock, then snowshoed up this beauty on the way home. nice views for a shorter mountain!
After a couple of longer, more strenuous days, it was nice to take it easy and relax at the summit, paying quiet respects to my country's war dead on US Memorial Day. Brilliant blue sky, warm sun, wonderful day.
