Scale!Hey Chad, where can I buy one of these scales? Do they sell them at REI?

Re: Scale!Hi Marc! I bought mine online a long time ago... here is the website I used. There are two versions of the scale, not too cheap but I like having it.

Look like it is online from all sorts of vendors.
I got my pack down to <8 pounds regularly! I got to update that article sometime.

Re: Scale! Thanks for the address. I picked up a smaller cheeper one at REI today.
I was checking out your article again yesterday. I think originally you had your pack down to 12+ pounds. Then, yesterday it was down to 9+ pounds. But, <8 is something to see. Let me know where you found room to cut even more weight. Did you get even a smaller pack?

Re: Scale!Ok sure. I will update the detailed list soon and let you know. Yeah I now have a slightly lighter 24 liter pack partly due to cutting weight elsewhere... the lighter your gear the smaller the pack so it compounds the savings.
Instead of a tent I got a 10 oz bivy I usually sleep on top of. No ground tarp. No extra bottom layer. Sometimes ditch the down sweater when it is warm. No hardshell jacket but I sometimes have a lightweight shell I found. I guess that was about 1-2 pounds of stuff I didn't really need!

Re: Scale!I guess you can always have your bivy handy just in case you get caught in a downpour.

Re: Scale!Did you wish you had more of a shelter or at least a rain coat?
