Sign of the "Sport" Hunter
Walking through the woods one day, I came upon the carcass of a white-tail buck. The animal had not been killed for food, for the meat had not been "harvested." It had not even been killed for a trophy, as evidenced by the antlers being there.

When the snow melted a few weeks later, I found the answer: a bloodstained arrow on the ground nearby. This animal had been killed just for the sake of killing, a mentality unfortunately far too prevalent still in the mountains and other wilderness areas.

Such a waste.

...and far too common. I've seen this type of thing many times in the West.

I'm glad I haven't seen too much of this where I live. But then again, we have plenty of the types who run over animals for fun, sometimes keeping score.
