| Another one of those pleasant surprises. Drove out from Vegas in the morn, took the DPS route up, but looped back over the ridge to SE-- nice variety, went over the mysterious "Smith Mtn Az Mk" (an azimuth check benchmark?). A 2003 subaru outback with just 7.3" clearance did fine with mrchad9's "if you have 2wd" route. The stretch from 7 miles past Greenwater Rd, to 8.5 miles, is rough, but with careful wheel placement, I never bottomed out. | |

| Took the standard route up the gully from Gold Valley the day after Thanksgiving. Quick and easy, and very cold in the morning, but the views were very enjoyable. Was back down by lunchtime, then up the south ridge of Funeral Peak. | |
