Southwest Virginia

Southwest Virginia

This is the Cumberland Plateau area of southwestern Virginia, near to Black Mountain, Kentucky's highest point. I was on my way to the top of Black Mountain and missed my exit off the highway and ended up at this scenic vista. I couldn't believe the beauty of the the valley with mountains surrounding it, and the green of spring that was prevalent everywhere. (April 20, 2008)

Re: VA

Virginia does have a lot of mountains, considering it contains 1/4 of the AT. I have really only been to Shenandoah NP and the Mt Rogers area, but they are both beautiful areas. I hope to explore more of VA in the future.
