An old-fashioned Arizona meet-and-greet ? No. This is a Blue Agave or "shin-dagger" when it's up to its spines in the ice cold "fluff-and-stuff." Fortunately, I have a song to go with this:

Every night I turn the light out ...
Waiting for the velvet bride.
Will the spiny armadillo,
Find me where I'm hiding?

Right on ... one time I was in southern AZ doing a short hike, and one of these
plants did a number on my left lower leg. But I saw a desert Bighorn, so that made up for the discomfort.
