Good Days for Training
This album is a combined set of photos from April 22, 2012 and May 5, 2012. On April 21 Michael invited me over to his house and the next day we practiced crevasse rescue. It's always good to refresh on the skills. There were 20-25 foot high snow banks which made great for prussik and z-pulley practice. Afterwards we went on a nice scenic hike up towards Alta Vista.
Climbing up the Snow Wall
Approaching Mount Rainier
During May 5 Michael Blake and I were intending to summit Rainier via Gib. Ledges, but there was 2-3 feet of fresh snow making it a dangerous idea. So as a worst case scenario we practiced a bit more crevasse rescue and having myself pull Michael Blake from down below. I admit it was quite difficult. ;-)
