Great climb, East approach Date Climbed: Nov 13, 2010
Climbed the Fin from the Rockhouse basin approach. No real trail after the first 3 miles, but it's not really needed in the desert landscape. The Kern was no deeper than a foot where we crossed. The scramble up from the East is long, but fun. It's the most rewarding peak I've been on and offers great views, with Langley and Whitney visible to the North.
I've wanted to climb this one since I first saw it from Rockhouse Peak a couple of years ago. The summit block looked absolutely unclimbable when we first laid eyes on it, but it turned out to be easier than it looked--but it was every bit as exposed as it looked, too. Wild peak, and as Bob says, one of the coolest summit blocks in the Sierra. Highly recommended.
