Approach

When you are in front of the Grand Capucin, you see the trident on the left hand side. Turn round the trident. The chandelle is the next aiguille, just after a small couloir
The base of the South-East face is obviously in front of you when you look at the Chandelle from the Combe Maudite.
The route starts slightly on the right part of the base of the aiguille

Route Description

The route starts at the same place as the Bonatti-Gallieni route. The first pitch goes to the left of the face. The second is an obvious crack. The 3rd pitch starts with a technical slab and ends up in an ovehanging diedra, very athletic (7a+). The next pitches are small but frank cracks (superb climb 6b). The end is sligthly easier (say 6a)

Essential Gear

bring small and medium friends. The slabs are equipped with a few bolts
