Inland Seas

There are several lake albums on SP. Most are dominated by small glacial lakes high in the mountains. As wonderful as those are, I thought an album focusing just on the larger lakes of North America would be a good subject. Some of these lakes provide dramatic settings for viewing mountains across them or provide spectacular expanses of blue from the summits. Some are cold and clear, others are warm and smell, but they all are special in some unique way.

I have taken the liberty of attaching a representative assortment of photos, but there are many many more out there so please contribute. Please limit this to North America to keep the album size from getting out of hand. Other areas of the world could certainly provide excellent collections if someone desires to create them.

The only guidlines beside being limited to North America is the lake must natural and be measured in miles rather than feet or acres. Thanks.

I like it, and thanks for attaching some shots of mine. Your guidelines might cover this already, but how would you feel about shots of Lake Superior? It's not a mountain lake, though there are some small mountains around it, but it is natural, is measured in miles, and is glacially carved.

Lake Superior would be great. We see lots of mountain lake shots all over SP, but large expansive lakes are wonderful features whether thay are within mountains or not. I enjoy seeing them and thought others might like to see a collection as well. Notice there are already a couple Lake Superior pics and one of Lake Michigan. I'll probably add some Superior pics of my own when I get time to find them.
