East Ridge  Sucess!

Third peak of the day after Brewer and South Guard. Fantastic traverse with the final 4th class move a tough one. Tommey Jo decided to find a new route to the airy traverse so that was interesting. Pictures and story

SE Face  Sucess!

Dropped my pack and ran up the SE Face as I moved from the peaks around Brewer to the base of Table Mountain. Was my fourth peak of the day and I was exhausted after North Guard, Brewer, and South Guard. A bit spicy on the final approach to the summit block... it didn't help that I didn't go the best way passing the south summit (too low). Much easier on the return!

From Table  Sucess!

End of the Milestone-Midway-Table-Thunder traverse, ~19h45 car-to-car from Shepherd Pass TH. I had to drop down the southwest side of Table, then go around the foot of its west ridge and back up "MacLeod pass" (the saddle south of Thunder). This is awfully long and loose, but the north side of the west ridge (class 4) had too much snow/ice.

East Ridge  Sucess!

Part of a linkup of Milestone, Midway, Table, and Thunder. Went up McLeod Pass (ick) after descending a gully on Table's West Ridge (bigger ick), then slogged up to the south summit on Thunder. The traverse to the true summit is great fun, although there's no way either of those cracks near the top are 4th class. Still pretty easy to solo, but steep offwidths are never 4th class IMO ;) 13hr day from my camp at the Kern River Trail/Lake South America Trail junction.

East Face  Sucess!

Came back with Matthew to climb it as a dayhike. Got to scope out an unknown route up the East Face. Much finer weather this day! Trip Report

Traverse to Table  Sucess!

Climbed from the Thunder/Table drainage. Some good class 3-4 climbing near the top. Unfortunately, the old register has been lost, replaced by a newer one by the ever-diligent Sierra Peaks Section. Traversed to Table Mtn. via Macleod Pass, dropping down to the West Ridge. Good day.

I waited out a ferocious thunderstorm for 5 hours inside my bivy sack high in Thunder Cirque before climbing the summit just before sunset. How appropriate considering the peak's name! Mostly whiteout conditions on the peak so I got no views, but the climbing made up for the uncooperative weather. Trip Report
