Brief Information
Trico Peak is a mountain summit in western Colorado. It climbs to 13,321 feet (4,060 meters) above sea level.
It is named Trico since it is located at the place where three Colorado counties meet: San Miguel, Ouray, and San Juan County.
Peak is very easily accessible from the Red Mountain Pass, which stays open year round. It is a great 13er to summit in the winter. This area is also very popular backcountry ski destination.
Elevation at Red Mountain Pass: 11,018 feet = 3358 meters.
Summit of Trico Peak: 13,321 feet = 4060 meters.
Elevation gain: 2,303 feet = 702 meters
Time: about 2 hrs up (we did it in a deep snow, snowshoes would be helpful. I had to crawl through some sections since the snow was above my knees), and 1 hr down.
Distance: about 3.5 miles round trip.
