A tedious slog even though I came over Cleaver col which was pretty nice especially compared to the Russell-Carrilon pass. The views did redeem the peak.

The summit register is in bad shape. It's one of those metal cylinders about 4" in diameter. The lid was missing, and although someone had put the books inside the ziplock of a wag bag, they were both very wet. Both books are also full. We took the books out of the wag bag and left them underneath the inverted can, in hopes that the pages would drain and dry out.

Going past Tulainyo lake on the way to Tunaborra was awesome. The water is unnaturally blue. Its worth doing if you've got time and in the area.

Day 9 of the 2006 Sierra Challenge. Climbed with Bob Burd. Tagged The Cleaver first from the west face, then descended the Cleaver's NW ridge for a quick dip at Tulainyo Lake before ascending the south slope of Tunnabora. About 4.5 hours from Whitney Portal. Ran into Charles at Tunnabora's summit.

Had hoped to climb the East Ridge of Carl Heller, but found too much snow. Climbed Tunnabora, Russell, and Carillon instead with Rick Kent. Trip Report

Climbed as part of a multi-peak hike from USBL via Rockwell Variation. Tulainyo bowl and lake still locked in winter -- amazing scenary.

Decended NE face of Russell and tagged this one. Tulainyo Lake is a very lonely and peaceful place.

Carillon-Tunnabora-Russell-Whitney-Muir dayhike out of Whitney Portal. Russell-Carillon Col via the Rockwell Variation was a bit of a slog--I wish I'd thought to try Cleaver Col.

Tunnabora took longer than I was expecting from Russell-Carillon Col, too--the peak is only a mile from the col, but it manages to squeeze a surprising amount of talus and sand into that distance!
