Turkey Chute

Turkey Chute, 5.6Kay stepping around the corner into Turkey Chute

Turkey chute, 5.6 at Mission Gorge. Some people start at the climbers trail, there is some forth class up to a nice big ledge that is a much better place to drop your gear, the upper ledge is clean and away from the traffic on the trail. The start from the big clean ledge is a hard to protect 5.8 move. To keep to the grade, climb the rocks and flakes to the right, and step left around the corner into the very nice open book. Very easy to protect with trad gear. Just follow straight up the chute. Good beginner trad lead with the alternate start.

Use the rap rings from As the crow flies for top roping.

top rope heavenA climber working on a much harder move up from the big ledge to the open book, this move is more like 5.9. Just to the right of this climber is a corner with a 5.8 move
