I remember......standing in about the same spot, looking at that ridge and thinking how incredibly beautiful it is. It is even more beautiful with that snow. This is a great pic!
I'm not a technical climber, so I can't even imagine doing that climb with snow. I suppose the chains made it feel a little safer.
Nice TR and nice pics. Thanks for posting.

Matter of opinion ...Okay, I'm not a skilled climber either.
But, if I was the Park's Superintendent, I
would close the trail at this point.
I mean, it's a black and white issue. To me,
this particular route has "CLIMBER" written
all over it.
Yes, some folks like to stretch the envelope,
but ... this could really be an attractive
nuisance for officials to deal with.
Don't get me wrong - Zion is the best!

Re: Matter of opinion ...It's an interesting issue for sure. When I was there I kept wondering "why were we allowed to come up here?" I thought it was strange that they didn't make some effort to keep people out of danger. You have to wonder with people falling to their death every year.
I could tell from the terrain that without snow and ice it would be non-technical but extremely exposed. I guess the park must get a tremendous amount of pressure to keep Angels Landing open since it is so famous and one of the main attractions.
