!

I love the page. I work in Yellowstone during the summers and will work a winter there this time next year. Being from Atlanta, I drive out there every summer stopping in as many National Parks and other beautiful places as I can. I've been visited at least 10 now, and will be seeing more in a few months. Thanks for the addition and good luck.

Re: !

Thanks, Zach, I'm delighted you like it. BTW: My oldest son lives in Cumming, GA, and both my daughters and my four grandkids live in Warner-Robins. I hope to get out that way in the not too distant future to visit with all of them, and to take a side-trip to Congaree NP. --mark d.

Re: Do You Know ...

Zac--

Your name came up on another forum I frequent for Jeep JK owners. Do you know someone who goes by the screen name BigJerm? He drives a red Jeep JK (probably a 2007) and lives in Atlanta.

Re: Do You Know ...

Can't say i know him. I haven't been in the Atlanta area since early May, and won't be back until mid november. I'm currently in Yellowstone National park working, and will embark on a 41 day road trip home to Atlanta in just over a week. I plan visiting over 10 national parks on my trek, most of which i have never witnessed. I'll be sure to keep you updated.

Lots o'work

Great album, I'm sure it entailed lots of research AND travel. :)

Question...

What about adding national monuments, etc. as long as they are part of the NPS system? Your call, of course; I don't want to turn your page into a circus! But I recently did a page for White Sands, and I know there are pages for Grand Staircase-Escalante and Devil's Tower, and maybe some others.

Re: Question...

This is a good idea, but a couple things give me pause:

1. There are so many (over 300)! Of course, some aren't at all wilderness-related, so they could be summarily left off the list.

2. With the recent discussion of a parallel SP-universe, and the suggestion from the originator of that discussion that national parks might be an appropriate subject for it, I think I'd like to see where that actually ends up. Your idea might be better suited for it!

Re: Question...

Good enough, Mark. I plan to make another dunes page soon, though, and then a list page collecting SP dunes pages, which will include yours for High Dune. The idea is that someone on one of the pages and interested in dunes might notice the list and get info on other pages. Any thoughts or suggestions from you are welcome, of course.--Bob

Very interesting...

...page! (One teeny little insignificate geographical glitch: Glacier N.P. now resides in Missouri, rather than Montana. That's a lot of extra hours driving time for me...!)

Doggone it, Vernon! That's the second time I've tried moving it closer to Oklahoma, and you've caught me both times! ;-)

Great resource!

This was a great idea, and is clearly a labor of love. Are the national monuments next? :)

Re: Great resource!

You're the second person to ask. I hadn't planned on it--certainly Curtis and I visit them and many of them are quite spectacular compared to some of the lessor national parks. Since the possibility of another SP off-shoot originally suggested national parks as a theme, I think it would be best to see how that develops--the monuments and other areas might be best placed on that website. However, since SP does have some monuments now on it (Devil's Tower, etc), maybe I'll gin up a list of those. Thanks, Arthur, for visiting! --mark d.

Olympic Range (WA) not entirely a Nat'l Park

Mark, I see your U.S. National Parks page has attached to it the Olympic Range (WA) group. This connection is okay but not really accurate as the range extends beyond the park and there are summits attached to the group that are definitely not within the park. The Olympic Range summits currently in the group that are outside the park are Wynoochee Point, Colonel Bob, Mt. Washington, Mt. Ellinor, Mt. Rose, Mt. Pershing, Mt. Zion, Welch Peaks, Mt. Townsend, and Buckhorn Mountain.

Re: Olympic Range (WA) not entirely a Nat'l Park

Hi, Klenke! Yes, there are several parks for which the best reference I have on SP is something larger. I did it figuring it was best to provide at least some reference, if it was appropriate, from SP's resources. And, I hoped that folks researching would recognize what I'd done. If you think it's confusing to the person seeking beta, let me know. Thanks and have a good day! --mark d.

BTW: Originally I had these attached as "related", but there's a bug in SP that causes related pages to break every couple weeks. I got tired of fixing the attachment. :-(

Re: Olympic Range (WA) not entirely a Nat'l Park

Has this bug been fixed. If so, I suggest going back to making this a "related" page to Olympics Range (WA).

Re: Olympic Range (WA) not entirely a Nat'l Park

Let's find out; I changed it to related. I do still list it as the "SP Info" link, however, since it has the info about the park, as well. --mark d.
