if you live near Milan, Zurich or Basel, or, obviously, in a town near the Gotthard highway, this range can offer you the possibility to make difficult and very fine rock routes in one day ...
of course you can also make mountaneering and ski-mountaneering here
the N side of the valley is made by 2 main basins :
- the western one, near the Furka pass, bordered by the ridges coming down from Galenstock toward SW and SE
- the eastern one, made by the (no more big) Tiefengletscher, bordered by the ridge coming down from Tiefenstock and arriving down to Realp, in the main valley.
