a small rocky range in Valgerola
The Valgerola is the westernmost among the valleys that, from Valtellina, enter the Orobie Alps.A good, somewhere narrow, road starting from Cosio (Morbegno) leads to the main inhabited centre, Gerola Alta, wherefrom 3 main valleys go on toward the Orobie ridge, from West :
- the Val Vedrano, ending at the Alpe Vedrano and surrounded by "sweet" grassy summits
- the Valle di Pietra, ending with some lakes and surrounded by sharp and rocky summits
- the Pescegallo, ending with two basins, the W one is a small but good (and cold) ski-area, the E one hosts a lake.
