| Dropped my camping gear at Pine Ridge Camp and then hiked / bushwhacked along ridge to Ventana Cone. A lot of the brush in places has burned in the fires of 2008, but enough remains to make this "interesting" - heh heh heh .. Cool and windy day, beautiful views of the sea. Got back to camp just as light faded from the sky and the moon rose over the ridge. Only one entry from 2008 in the register before mine, probably before the fires started. | |

| Along with SVC on a crisp clear winter day. The Pine Ridge trail itself has been greatly cleaned up over the past year and is now almost completely free of overgrowth and deadfalls. The bushwack along the firebreak was overgrown as expected. Pics and trip report are here | |

| I lucked out and made the traverse to Ventana Cone from Pine Ridge just a few months after a fire crew had cleared a hand line all the way there while battling the 1993 Cienega Fire. Sure sounds like the brush is coming back with a vengeance! But what a neat and remote peak, and I look forward to returning sometime soon. | ||

| Enjoyable hike--well worth the effort for the spectacular summit view towards Ventana Double Cone alone. It wasn't so enjoyable in 2004, with the brush feeling a good deal thicker than it had been a year ago. I think my route-finding skills suck. | |

| Excellent hike if you don't mind a little bushwhack. It's really not that bad if you can find the 'trail'. We lost it at one point and it got a bit ugly. Views are excellent. We saw no ticks and only one rattlesnake. | ||
