What's the size of YOUR coconut ?

What's the size of YOUR coconut ?

My wife's cousin, (Jane - the one in the pink attire), and I demonstrate the fine art of guzzling down fresh Buko juice (coconut water) in the Philippines. Yep, my wife pointed out that I was holding the coconut wrong !!! (She's ALWAYS right.) The length of my nose didn't help - it got in the way of my coconut! The coconut is found throughout the tropical and equatorial regions of the world. It typically flourishes near the sea and at lower elevations. It bears fruit all year round. According to Desmond Tate’s book on Philippine Fruit, the name coconut may have come from the Portuguese word for monkey (quoque). Europeans may have associated the coconut fruit with the face of a monkey ... go figure. It's an extremely useful tree with the trunk, leaves and fruit finding several uses. But, be careful if you plan to pluck your own coconut – one that falls squarely on your head could kill you. Ironically, people who have kidney problems and are plagued by kidney stones "should" drink Buko juice in addition to taking their medication. Drinking coconut water regularly helps to break up kidney stones making them easier to push out. Fresh coconuts (for drinking) are typically harvested off the tree while they are green. A hole may be bored into the coconut to provide access to the liquid and meat. In young coconuts, the liquid and air may be under some pressure and may spray slightly when the inner husk is first penetrated. I didn't look at my watch the entire time I was in the Philippines. (Well, maybe once or twice before being dragged to the airport!) May 5, 2010

Re: hahaha

I found the "best" way is to just go with the
flow.

That's what I did in the Philippines, because
I was slightly "outnumbered" by the opposite sex.

Fortunately, I was awarded the opportunity to enjoy some "first-rate" coconut water!!!

: )))
