Fire on Hamner Butte. Taken from the south (from Odell Butte) in early July 2003. This was a controlled fire, or so the lookout on Odell told us. A close-up shot.

Nice shot

I noticed the fire area extended almost to the top of Hamner Butte when I was up there last year. I didn't know when the fire occurred but this pic clarifies that nicely.

I could get the exact date if you care but I'd have to figure it out.

Note that dark splotch on the right foreground slope. Is it past fire damage or is it a lava flow? Answer: the latter.
