Sign post at the trail junction just south of the Wiesbadener Hütte

Just south of the Wiesbadener Hütte the trail splits. One branch goes due south, in the direction of the Vermunt Pass on the Austrian-Swiss border, and beyond to the Tuoi Hütte and the Swiss village of Guarda. Although the signs don't mention it, for now this is also the way to Piz Buin, both by the normal route as via the Wiesbadener Grätle. But frankly, if you really need this sign to find either of those two routes, you shouldn't be out here, so it's good that it's not signed. The other trail gently turns east, towards the Obere Ochsenscharte, and from there it descends the Jamtal Glacier to the Jamtal Hütte. Whether you go to the Tuoi Hütte or the Jamtal Hütte, it won't take more than half a day, which leaves plenty of time for some more fun along the way. I recommend climbing the Dreiländerspitze. Until right before the summit it's easy scrambling, but the final bit is really exposed as well as slightly harder, UIAA grade II. 23 July 2013.
