Fixed rope section Pollux SW ridge

Fixed rope section Pollux SW ridge

This is the crux of the SW ridge of Pollux. Without the fixed ropes grade would be UIAA III+. Following the thick rope, route traverses the slab easily, but then the hardest part involves getting round and over a large jammed boulder in the cleft beyond. The top pitch is very steep, but really very easy and doesn't really justify the big thick rope there. 11th September 2014.
