My wife had wanted to take a family trip up to Oregon to show us where she grew up for quite some time, and this year we finally got around to doing it.  We drove up and spent the first night in Pendleton to save the kids from too much car time.  The next day, we drove along the scenic Columbia River Gorge, stopping to walk around the Bonneville Fish Hatchery (where we saw the 10-foot long "Herman the Sturgeon"), followed by fun little hikes of Wahclella Falls, Multnomah Falls, and Sherrard Point (Larch Mountain).  The next morning we drove by some of the places where my wife spent time during her previous stay in the Portland area, followed by a drive out to Seaside (hitting the Camp 18 restaurant on the way), where we spent the rest of our time exploring Cannon Beach.  Early the next morning we went to Ecola Point to avoid the crowds, where we did an extremely scenic hike up above and along Crescent Beach (which probably gave the best scenery of our trip), followed by a few hours of splashing around exploring the tide pools at Indian Beach before continuing north into Washington to check out Mount Rainier.

Next time we come we'll probably spend more time at the beaches south of Seaside, since that's the part the kids enjoyed the most, and there appear to be many more scenic hikes in that area that are worth checking out.

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
