Great picture ..I'm wondering if this is the same viper
found in the Alps of northern Italy. I need to look on the computer. It looks like it could blend in very nicely with its surroundings. Thanks for sharing it with us.

There is very distance between Iran & Italy.
I don`t think, this viper be same viper that you see in Alp.

share a common characteristic in part
of their anatomy; a pit organ sensitive

Re: Great picture ..This viper is a Caucasian Pit Viper, Gloydius intermedius caucasicus. This species barrely enters European territory so it does not occur in Italy where other species of vipers such as Vipera aspis fransisciredi,Vipera berus and Vipera ursinii can be found. This species is an version of Copperhead and/or Cottonmouths with which it is closely related.
