Beautiful Hike

I always wanted to hike this peak because its relative remoteness attracted me. This was my first "Nevada hike and peak". The Great Basin National Park is wonderful because it lacks the hordes of people that many other national parks have. The hike to the summit of Wheeler Peak is a nice day hike that will give you a workout -- but if you're in shape, it shouldn't take you longer than a half-day. It's about 9 miles round trip and just under 3,000 ft. gain. Since this is a 13,000 feeter, you'll want to make sure you're properly acclimitized if you're not used to higher elevations. The view from the summit is great - different than a typical view in the Rockies or the Sierra Nevadas as this peak looks over a vast desert and many other "ranges in between the deserts (basins)" .. Nevada is actually one of the more mountainous regions in the U. S. Due to its remoteness, many of these peaks see few people...I'm looking forward to doing more peaks in this state

Check your heading info

In your heading you say the location of your hike was in Washington State, but in the body you talk about hiking Wheeler Peak in the Great Basin (in Nevada).
