Sometimes, when dodging rockfalls I had my doubts if we would make it back out.
It's amazing there were no deaths when the flash flood swept down the valley.

No Bushwacking anyway

When one is climbing a vertical jungle we long for open views as dominate your trip. But at least the veg holds everything in place. You did a great job of providing the contrast between beauty and danger.

Agreed on the bushwacking part. I was lost in the bush on the slopes of Mt Kenya once and that was really frustrating.
Here it was a combination of route finding and danger, mixed with wonderful scenery and great trekking and climbing.
All in all, a really nice time.

We had about 35 kg at most. We usually bring very little and try to go light, but when going without mules the weight of the food adds up.

We had a very good relationship with the Poles. Three of them were there to climb the south face of Mercedario (no success) and the other three, which were our company on both Ramada and on Paso Ancho were doing a report for Polish National Geographic. Perhaps there will be a story to read there later.

I forgot to tell you this and you may by now already know, but the Polish expeditions in Los Andes later became a book.
