Wood Lily on Sand Dunes
I was amazed to see how many flowers there were growing among the grasses on the Dunes Trail that starts from Sleeping Bear Dune itself. This is a Wood Lily, thanks to JamesK for the identification. June 2007.

I would guess this is a Rocky Mountain Lily, aka the Wood or Red Lily.

Since this was a long way from the Rockies, I'll call it a Wood Lily. They *are* found in Michigan: http://www.friendsofsleepingbear.org/wildflowers.htm
