Yes, refreshing member, ha, ha. But it's true. I saw so many great photographs, but some of your ideas are extremely creative. And you do a lot of different things. I wonder, have you posted on www.photo.net yet?

Voting on SummitPost has a special history. In my opinion this site was programmed by a true genius - Josh, one of owners did the first version, which was running smoothly. He disappeared for months and everything went fine. Then the second version came - really big improvements where also many of us, members were invited to propose how to make it better. Great achievement again! Since then Josh is not appearing here much and nobody knows what's his interest. But also the other two owners who can change the code of SummitPost (Ryle and Matt) are great, yet the program is basically not changing at all.
There were long debates about voting. The intent was great - like in nature, what is good survives, what is bad gets burried and unnoticed. But as voting is not anonymous, through time almost all members started to give only votes 10 or not giving a vote at all. It works to a certain degree, but in my opinion using the whole scale (1-10) would be better. But also I am not doing that, because one vote of 9 or 8 already decreases the overall score alot. I'm regularly voting, giving 10 points to good, valuable submissions, even if they are not on the highest quality level. Probability does the rest - so over time good stuff gets enough attraction and comes on top. If you look on Images, for example, those which are on top, are also very good.
So, Claudio, voting is not required, and nobody will think of you nothing if you don't vote. But giving your vote to good stuff helps to improve its visibility - good mountain pageas are noticed, route pages, area pages etc., people discuss on them and that's the purpose of them And authors get a positive feedback, which is the only reward anyway. At the end it takes you no time when you are looking on a picture, for example, to click on the scale and give a vote. Establish your criterium, then keep it and vote by it.
And the formula, how the score is calculated is Josh's secret. Still nobody knows it and nobody has decoded it. Members who contributed most to SummitPost, have the highest "power", their vote has more weight than the vote of a newcomer. But then so many other factors are in the formula...
