From Zion Lodge via the Grotto trail
#1 11-13-15 Parking was a problem. Started from Zion Lodge lot. Tons of people. Didn't much care for the asphalt trail but, oh well. Delightful summit area large enough for a small state funeral. Splendid weather. Met a cousin purely by chance whom I hadn't seen in years. My hiking partner was fabelhaft.

Crowded
Beautiful lunch spot but way to many people for comfort. Didn't stay long.

Standard Route
Caught the 6 am shuttle from the visitor's center. One hour to the summit from the Grotto. The crowds were forming on my descent by 7:30 am.

Angels Landing
Fun late-afternoon hike on a beautiful day. We started at 7PM we got up just in time to see the sunset. Back down by 9:30PM (still light. The final ascent is awesome, although I heard people slip and perish on that section.

Icy! Without the chains I would have been shot off a cliff.

Anniversary Hike
Hiked with wife and 3mo old baby to the top of Angels landing. Our baby was the star of the hike. We continued along the West Rim trail afterwards for several miles. Slightly overcast and gorgeous day. Great way to spend our anniversary and great hike for baby's first summit. >.<
Only complaint was that I stashed my pack at Scouts lookout while going up to the peak. Squirrels/chipmunks chewed through my pack and ate our lunch. Luckily I had a few granola bars and one pack of peanut butter buried pretty far down under my rainjacket. Be warned - the rodents up there are VERY aggressive. They will go at great lengths to get food out of your pack. My fav. day-pack is now getting new zippers and a new mesh pocket from leaving my pack in what seemed a very conspicuous and populated area for less than one hour right before the "chains."

Too many people
If you could ever do this without the crowds it would be incredible. There were so many people that I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped. Still a must do. Views are stellar.

My parents and I hiked this trail early in the morning, only a handful of people when we were there. This could be climbed without the chains, but it is true that a fall would be dire. The views straight down to the park road below are amazing, as they are in every direction. if you like to hike, don't leave Zion N.P. without trying this one.

Love this hike. LOVE. Go. Do. Be. Don't fall. Best done as part of a backpack down from Kolob to the valley but all routes are grand.
I started the hike at 6 am. Nobody. It was a beautiful day. My first hike ever in Zion National Park. Enjoyed those red rocks and orange leaves all around!

A gorgeous day. About eight young people on top. They congratulated this old man for making it. The last half mile is more of a climbing route than a hiking trail.

Started the hike at 7:30am after catching the shuttle to the stop and made it to the top in 1 hour, 20 minutes. Had the summit all to myself for about 15 minutes, which was amazing. Passed at least 100 people going up while on the way down. Glad I left early in the morning. Amazing views!
