a very cold morning, but what a photo! Simply amazing!
Thanks Koen! This was actually taken late in the evening. But you're right about one thing. It was cold! I was shivering and drinking hot tea to stay warm.
light effect is fantastic. Cheers!
Thanks Forgues. Cheers!
A real "classic" you got here, Adam! Simply beautiful!
Now I'm going to follow the links back to see where this is!
This is something I have comlained about: alot of photos do not say where they are taken, and alot of us out here who are homebound do not have a clue where it is. It would be so helpful if the location was stated. That aside, this photo is beautiful.
hey WebTraveler -- click the link above and to the left of the photo and it takes you to the mountain's main page.
You waited a year to post it???? ;)
Nice catch my friend. I have corrected the date.
Oh...well in that case where was this taken from?
Ha, ha ... it's difficult to get a bearing
on Baring without baring your toothy grin !
I changed the caption to show that this was taken from Heybrook lookout tower.
gorgeous! Look at that cold north face...I don't think it has been climbed in winter, right?
You're right. As far as I know, the north face has not seen a single winter ascent. Even in ideal conditions, I believe it's only been climbed a small number of times.
Beckey guide pg. 44, First winter ascent of the North Face by the Cooper-Gordon route by Peter Doorish and Dale Farnham in 1984.
Of course. Pete Doorish is a monster. Wow :). Thanks for the lookup Jacob!
