An hour up and 48 minutes down. A great way to finish the day before dinner in Mammoth.
A nice walk up. Did it on the way to the Evening at the Arch event.
Fun hike with the family. Great wildflowers. Trip Report.
Drizzled on a bit on the way up and down but had a nice window at the summmit. I was hoping Electric would reveal itself with a fresh coat of snow but it decided to stay hidden.
clockwise loop to Bunsen Peak then east down to B. loop road and side trip to Osprey Falls. I'd recommend doing it this way; where the Peak trail branches off the loop road is very indistinct and unmarked.
Climbed this peak more times than I can count over the last 30 years. Why not? It's in my back yard. Usually I get paid to climb it. Next time, notice the new log equipment shelter that we replaced the old crappy shack with. Also, was instrumental in removing all the abandoned TV and FM antenna masts and boxes from the mountain a few years back.
I enjoyed hiking to this peak. The summit offers great views down to Mammoth and beyond.
Hiked up Bunsen Peak before going home. This peak and Mount Washburn seem to be the most visited in Yellowstone.
Beautiful day in northern Yellowstone.
second summit of the day; with Rosalba left kids in the car and back in under two hours
2nd summit of day. Pretty views.
Hiked with the wife and DayHikerJr. He is getting heavier, but at least he hiked 10% of the trail.
Hiked with Mommy and Daddy. I hiked about a quarter mile and then Daddy carried me the rest of the way.
This was the second time I've climbed Bunsen with my hubs. We took the scenic route via Osprey Falls and an east side bush whack.
Took 12 midwestern kids up this as their first mountain. They were totally stoked.
The local prominence made them feel they'd climbed something bigger.
Tried to go down east side to Osprey Falls but never found them, so I joined up with the old road and headed back to the car after summiting via the standard route
Rode my bike up from Gardiner, Montana (about 2,000') and then hiked up to the summit. The ride back was nice.
Not the best weather, but a nice hike- still some snow drifts. I love Yellowstone in the Spring!
5/18/08 - Climbed from the east after first making the hike to Osprey Falls. Tried to stay on the vague trail, but gave up due to numerous snow patches and just bee-lined for the summit. And I thought it was windy up top last year...
9/28/07 - A fairly nice day, other than massive wind gusts. Finally got around to climbing Bunsen, after many years of just driving by.
Nice views for what is an easy hike. Great place to watch the sunset from.
