Hot
Record highs in the area with triple digits in the afternoon. Started this one about 0800 and it was definitely getting hot by 0930 as I was hitting the handrail section on the way down. At any rate, the trail was busy, despite the social distancing efforts of the rangers and with the upper parking lot being closed. The trail was surprisingly steep in places and the canyon was like an oven. Cholla was much more enjoyable as I did that last year. I actually tried to do that trail again, but it was closed due to an accident a few weeks ago, so I drove over to Echo Canyon instead. I'm pretty sure if I ever do this again, it will be from Cholla. Better trail, better scenery, less people. That's check marks in the right column if you ask me.

Sunny Monday - huge crowd
First new peak a quite a while. Had to walk just over a mile from parking to the trailhead, as I arrived around 10:30 and the available on-street parking is limited throughout the neighborhood. A worthy hike/scramble, but few are intimidated, so go planning on being with a lot of fellow hikers.

Camelback
We hiked this as a family because we were in Phoenix for the weekend. The views were really impressive as well as the desert plant life. However, the crowds were crazy. There were so many people on this trail. We had to park about 1 mile from the trailhead. Other than the crowds, it was great!

bagged it while on vacation
had to keep getting to the tops of peaks even while on vacation!
Went around 3 on a Tuesday afternoon. Plenty of parking and perfect weather. Passed about the same amount of people that passed me on the way up, so I guess I'm pretty mediocre.

Dizzying / Crazy busy
Did this after Piestewa with the whole family; would reccomend starting earlier than 9am this time of year because it is hot. Gains over 1000 feet per mile so quite steep. Crazy amount of people, felt like being part of a human anthill. Scrambles are frequent but totally unexposed so just watch your step, bring lots of water, and enjoy the view on top!

Climbed this mountain for my fourteenth birthday. Watching the sunrise up here literally converted me into a mountaineer. Great easy hike.

Camelback Santa
Took the Cholla Trail up and down. Fun hike with great views of the city. A guy dressed as Santa awaited climbers at the top and gave out candy canes and took pictures next to a fully decorated Christmas tree!
