Route Climbed: up over flattop Date Climbed: January 2005
A really warm (chilly on top of course!) laid back winter day with Jon in the Park. I miss Colorado! I haven't climbed a peak since I moved. Okay, one of the northern foothills of the Brooks Range in November- hopefully when I return from the Andes in a month my tone will have changed!
Route Climbed: Flattop Date Climbed: August 29, 2005
Beautiful day for hiking. I ended up mingled with a group of 200 & some kids from a school in Texas...so much for a day of hiking alone. But I had fun with them. It was great to hear their reactions when they made it to the top!
Route Climbed: Love to Better Than Love Date Climbed: August 7, 2005
Holy cow, what a climb.
Being more of a mountaineer than a hard core rock climber, this this was great! Challenging, exposed, BIG, alpine... WOW. Did I mention that this is a BIG wall...
Route Climbed: Flattop Trail Date Climbed: Tuesday July 19, 2005
Outstanding views in all directions. Longs dominates with a perfect view of the keyboard of the winds. Neversummer and Mummy ranges look close enough to touch, the Gores and even Rabbit Ears distant on the horizon.
Route Climbed: Andrews Glacier Date Climbed: July 10, 2005
I had planned on doing Otis, but decided to continue to Hallett instead. What a beautiful day! I'll definetly be back. The Park was a complete zoo by the time I made my descent at around 11am.
Route Climbed: The Great Dihedral Date Climbed: 8/04
Completed the route but did not continue to the summit via another route. Clouds forming above caused us to make the decision to descend, which was a good one. At the start of rap # 1, we were drenched. Storms move in real fast up there! Great climb regardless.
Route Climbed: Bear Lake trailhead, descent via Andrews Glacier Date Climbed: Summer 03
Summited over Flattop first, then Hallet Peak, Otis, & half of Taylor (had to get someone in our group back for work:-(
My friends decided to "stay in the meadow by flattop and smell the flowers," so I RAN up Hallet Peak and Otis while they "skirted" by it.... oops, while I was boulder hopping on the way back down, one moved and I did a head first somersault down the mountain... good thing my knee crashed into a rock to prevent me going any further. Don't worry, a little bruise won't hurt me on this on... now a steeper mountain would have been treacherous! Good views from the top- enjoy!
Route Climbed: Better Than Love Route & From Flattop Mtn. Date Climbed: April 24, 2005
I climbed the better than love route in the summer of 2001, but didn't summit. I guess after (8) pitches of rock it didn't seem very important! I finally stood on top 4/24/05 with Jason after an amazing Dragon's Tail Couloir climb!!

Northcutt-CarterClimbed this route just days before the giant block fell off, essentially erasing this route. That second pitch did seem a bit loose!
