High traverse to Ioldo-Ayry Glacier, Altay
View West.
Our route led from the NW to the crest of Katun'skie Belki, then contouring high on the South slopes of the crest, and finally recrossing to the North to Ioldo-Ayry Glacier. It was the only one of the trip's 5 mountain passes which was entirely passable on skis, and also our only crossing to the South, Kazakhstani side of Altay.
