Oh man, what an awesome peak! It's above my head, literally and figuratively, but maybe I can at least see it some day.
Yes, I second timeberman's suggestion of splitting paragraphs, which I see you have done. Much easier to read, especially with my bifocal prescription.
Thanks for the vote Nelson. Yes, I agree, Khan Tengri is a top 5 7000+ mountain. Hard to catch all its beauty in pictures, standing at its foot it becomes even more overwhelming. One route, the classical on the west ridge is not so hard as it may seem, but still a major expedition objective. However, only going to the head of Inylchek glacier without intention of climbing is already a trip of a life time with things like Khan Tengri, Peak Pobeda, the Marble Wall and Merzbacher lake to see.
Thanks Aleksandar! Yes, a scale of 1 to 10 would be much better, as it would bring differentation between the real good stuff and things that could just get you in next years class. To much junk on this site by now. I have set it as my task to clear the worst shit out first, among them was Khan Tengri. But also, due to coordinated action instigated by Fred, mnt Kenya has been adopted, Daqu has been deleted by my own action and so on. On the moment only 5 adoption cases are left. But after that we still have a lot of poor material that has been grossly overrated: Only rigid voting can change that, and I must say that I myself am often reluctant to vote very low, especially in the case of very new members.
I agree Johan, it is better that poor page is deleted. Also I don't vote for pages that are below 4 stars on my scale. As you say maybe we should vote more rigidly but I don't like to hurt anybody’s feelings so I simply don't vote. I think people would take it personaly and not as friendly suggestion. Maybe we should be more tolerant, I don't know. People like us would like to make SP perfect guide, best there is, but that is unfortunately not possible because not many can create such good pages. You have to have knowledge, vision and be passionate about it, most aren't. And those that make good pages can't visit whole planet. I've always been in love with Durmitor mountain in Monte Negro. I've read tons of material and I know the mountain like my pocket even though I've never been there. Because of that I didn't create a page, which I wanted so much. Recently Durmitor was taken by some guy from Zagreb who made very poor page. I was very disappointed to see that. But when I visit it, next summer hopefully, I’ll make a page named after the highest peak which will be the way I want it.
Thank you very much for your kind remarks. I am very proud that people like the work I did on the Khan Tengri page. Such an important mountain deserves a good page on Summitpost. We are only with few on SP who have knowledge of the Central Asia/China mountains, so we have a great job to do. Hope that someday you can free the time to come to Urumqi: Although I am a busy man, I can always free a few days to go into the Bogda Shan. Many mountain area's in China are beyond belief, but I think the Bogda is the most beautifull of all, and with your capacities in photography you sure would do a good job in making them more well known
Thank you very much! I was so glad that I could adopt this page, which for years was a shame to Summitpost. More than delighted that people like my recent work on it and so many good votes are given.
Another one of your mountain pages that my attention-deficit disorder prevents me from completing, Johan. From my brief perusal, however, another exhaustive, amazing page! Thanks for your contribution.
As far as I know, there was a successful Romanian ascent a few days ago (1 person out of a team of 4). Also unfortunately 11(?) people died in an avalanche at the unexpected time of 6 in the morning at one of the camps.

Thank you for your vote! Unfortunately the news of the 11 death proved to be true. Anyway it was a bad season here in central Asia, with many deaths also on Peak Lenin and K2. Even "gentle" Muztagata claimed another life this season.
My congratulations to the Roumanian, Khan Tengri is a good climb by all standards!

Untitled CommentWow Johan, this is fantastic page! 4 stars? No way, on SP scale it deserves 10 stars because some really junk pages still receive 4 stars from voters.

Untitled CommentThanks Huberschwiller. A Mountain of the importance of Khan Tengri deserved a little better page than it was during the last 2.5 years.
